Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell is an American TV journalist anchor and commentator for NBC News based in Washington D.C. After growing up living in New York City, Mitchell obtained a bachelor's degree in English literature from the University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell was employed as a reporter at KYW Radio and TV Philadelphia in 1967. She was a reporter for the CBS station WDVM-TV (then WTOP) in Washington DC in 1976. She joined NBC News Washington two years after that as a general reporter. In 1980, she began covering the White House. 1988 became the chief congressional journalist. She became the chief White House reporter in 1992 as well as the chief Foreign Affairs correspondent at NBC News. Mitchell is a regular as a guest on TV news show Meet the Press as a panelist and host. Mitchell was a panelist at the debates in 1988 among George Bush & Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married with Alan Greenspan, former Chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. In 2005, Mitchell received the highly coveted Goldsmith Career Award for Excellence in Journalism from the John F. Kennedy School of Government as well as in 2004 she was awarded the Radio-Television News Directors Association (RTNDA) honored Mitchell by awarding her the Leonard Zeidenberg Award in recognition of her contributions to the protection and protection of First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell began reporting on for the White House in 1981-1988, both during Ronald Reagan's presidency. Mitchell covered a number of noteworthy stories over the years, such as budget reform, tax reform as well as the Iran Contra affair. She traveled extensively along with Reagan and Mikhail Gorbachev to world summits.
